Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy for all ages, which involves creative expression rather than relying on the spoken word. Clients are encouraged to express themselves through mark-making using a variety of art materials, or collaging of found objects and/or printed images. They then examine the emotional and underlying psychological content of what they’ve created with the help of a credentialed art therapist. In Australia, the official body is the Australia and New Zealand Arts Therapy Association (ANZATA).
